Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has dismissed calls by a group demanding that he accounts for Abacha loot recovered by his administration. In an interview conducted by Frisk Larr and published on his blog, the former military general described such persons as “illiterates and stupid people”.

Speaking over the weekend, Obasanjo said the role of his office was to facilitate the recovery process and not how it was put to use.

“They said the money recovered from Abacha, I should account for it. What stupidity! The man who asked for it, the man who gave the judgement or who answered them are all stupid, with due respect.

“I don’t keep account, all Abacha loots were sent to Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and every bit of it was reported to Minister of Finance. My job was to write where we can get help to recover the money.

“Every penny that comes out of it went to CBN, so if they want to know what happened to the money, they should call CBN governor or call the Minister of Finance.

“But again, it shows ignorance, total ignorance, which is lacking and you wonder, are these people educated? They can also approach the man who helped us in recovering process to give the list of money recovered and where he took it,” Obasanjo said.

Buhari Luckier Than Me

While commenting on oil prices, Obasanjo said President Muhammadu Buhari was lucky comparing Buhari’s opportunities with his own.

“When I assumed office in 1999, I inherited $3.7 billion in reserve, while Buhari met $30 billion, almost 10 times of what I met then, and the price of oil then was $9. When it got to $20, I was dancing.

“I know the price is down now and with time, it will jump up again. What Buhari is doing currently is preparing ground for Nigeria to take advantage when it goes up again,” he maintained.

  1. Old lying wretched fool! I thot u said ur boy Jonathan emptied d treasury. Una jus begin una go soon eat una sef flesh raw and drink una sef blood lyf.

  2. Why was Buhari Complaining meeting an empty reserve for God sake jst 2 blackmail GEJ we all know he is a good man

  3. Comment:Hahahahaha…… I laugh in Swahili.
Dis man go soon pour san san 4 him friend gari.
I tot PMB is a saint in the eyes of OBJ compared to his elsewhere ‘enemy’, GEJ.
    Shameless bamboo

  4. You lying troll blogger with no sense of societal unity. In this publication you put out now, where did the man categorically mention that PMB was lucky,he only stated what he met and at what oil price….for crying out loud, that was when UN/US sanctions on Iran was expanded and they couldn’t sell their oil which resulted into us having more buyers, including US.PMB came in,the price dropped,UN/US lifted sanctions on Iran and Iran pumped in their oil at low price,Asian neighbors resorted to buying from them to ease logistics and US had started yielding from fracking,so US stopped buying from us.Our barges were barely floating waiting for buyers.
What am I saying, even at $28/barrel,if there are enough buyers, there may be no complaints.
Obasanjo had so many buyers when it was $oscillating between $11-23/barrels (dec. 1998-1999).

  5. Hey so pmb met money in Nigeria reserve sooner or later God will judge you all,we know Jonathan is a good man.

  6. These idiots have been deceiving us with their lying tongues …So pmb actually inherited something but said he met empty account..fools

  7. This is still d blame game we are talking about, pls our Elderstatesmen stop provoking Nigerian n do the needful, there is “hunger in the land-o”!

  8. If you all want, be just amongst the leaders, or else continue been biased .
To see who will be the looser, with all the atrocities committed by Good luck Johnathan yet you people talked as novice.

  9. I cannot rush to condemn Leaders. If you’ve opportune to lead even few Nigerians, you will know that pple are difficult to lead or rule. As for the public opinion after 2015 election or about the present government. Most of peoples opinion are expression of primordial sentiment and hate, Nigeria peculiarity as a country that is subject to primordial sentiment. Reigning insult on Leaders is unheard. Because, it is not really in our culture to talk bad of leaders. Most especially the type of OBJ & PMB. As for GEJ’s administration. It is only enemies of progress and agents of evil that will say things should continue the way it was going. The former President himself had said that HE WAS CAGED FOR SIXTEEN YEARS. Meaning, GEJ also agreed that things were actually going wrong.

  10. Mr Anonymous, please read well, listen carefully and be objective. OBJ said he met $3.7 billion in reserve, not in account and that PMB inherited $30billion in reserve! Watch the video by clicking the link.

  11. Obasanjo said he met $3.7 billion in Nigerian Foreign Reserve when he was “rigged” into office as the President of Nigeria in 1999.

Question #1: How much money came into Nigerian Treasury between 1999 and 2007?
    # 2: How much money did he steal within this period?
#3: What happened to the billions of dollars the then Senate approved for the procurement of arms for the Nigerian military?
#4 What happened to the N 240, 000,000,000.00 (N 240 billion naira) earmarked for road construction and repairs in 2004/2005?
#5: What happened to the $16 billion( sixteen billion dollars) approved by the NASS, and given to Obasanjo for electricity?
#6: Where did you, Obasanjo, get the money to buy the Hilton Hotel in Abuja in 2002, while you declared that you have only N15,000.00 as asset declared?
#7: Where did you, Obasanjo, get the money to build a University, called Bell University, in Otta, in 2004?
#8: Where did you, Obasanjo, get the money to build a 250-room hotel in China in 2006?
#9; Where did you, Obasanjo, get the money to establish and oil and gas company, called Oando in 2004.

When a thief, a fool and an immoral human like Obasanjo should parade himself as a saint, who started the war on corruption, while it is clear that his middle name is corruption, and he is the most corrupt president that ever ruled a nation.

  12. how can obj call himself a leader when he can’t give an accurate figure and proper account of what transpired during his regime..he has always be shady with Nigeria. and to my opinion our problem got more ground on his regime and with this he’s not a friend of this country
