A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Friday ordered the remand of one Timothy Jackson, charged with drug trafficking, at Ikoyi Prisons.
The accused, a plumber, charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), is standing trial on a one-count charge bordering on the alleged offence.
He, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Following an application for remand by the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, Justice Saliu Saidu, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
He adjourned the case till Feb. 3, 2016 for a review of facts.
In the charge, the accused was alleged to have committed the offence on Nov. 3.
The prosecutor said that the accused was arrested at Hajj Camp in Ikeja, with 300g of Cannabis Sativa, popularly called Indian hemp.
According to the prosecutor, the accused was reported to be a dealer in the restricted substance.
The offence contravened Sections 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence of drug trafficking attracts up to a term of life imprisonment if convicted.
