#NigeriaDecides: General Buhari Leads In Results Of 18 States Announced So Far

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari is currently leading incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after polling 10,101,497 votes as against the 6,798,254 votes garnered by President Jonathan in the 21 states and the FCT, whose results have been announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The results, which were declared by the Returning Officers of each state shows that General Buhari had won majority of votes in 13 states – Ogun, Kogi, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Gombe, Sokoto, Jigawa and Kaduna – while President Jonathan held sway in Ekiti, Enugu, Nasarawa, Anambra, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Plateau and the FCT.

As for the percentage of votes required by INEC, General Buhari has so far scored 25% in 16 states while President Jonathan had polled 25% in 15 states of the federation.

Results from Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Lagos, Niger, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara are yet to be announced with INEC shifting the announcement of the results to 10 am, Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

The result from Rivers State, which showed President Jonathan polling 1,487,075 votes (95%) was rejected by the APC, who alleged that the elections were rigged, with INEC sending a delegation to the state to investigate the claims.
