NIMASA DG Allegedly Employs Daughter, Son-in-law, Pays Couple N4.8 Million Transfer Allowance

Must read

There may be palpable tension in the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) as the acting Director General, Haruna Baba Jauro has reportedly employed his daughter Cynthia James (nee Jauro) and her husband in the agency without recourse to due process.

According to a report by 234 Press, Jauro, upon resumption to office, employed his daughter and her spouse two months ago and posted them to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The report, further states that the couple was transferred to Abuja last week, again, without due process and that they were paid a total of N4.8 million as transfer allowance.

This payment, sources within NIMASA say, has led to unease among the staff of the agency which is yet to pay salaries for the months of August and September 2015.

Following the employment of Mrs. James and her husband, on Grade Level 13 and 12 respectively, their transfer allowance came to, N2,500,000 and N2,350,000; a total sum of N4,850,000.

A public relations consultant for NIMASA has been reached with this report and is yet to respond to The Trent with the official position of the agency on this report.
