Okorocha Grants Amnesty To Criminals Declared Wanted In Rivers

Emenike Agamu, known in the underworld as ‘General Red Scorpion’ and the fourth in-command in the Don Wanny cult gang, has surrendered his arms to security operatives in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Emenike Agamu also known as ‘General Red Scorpion’, Uche Onyenna also known as ‘Onye Army’ and Justus Nmanwoke also known as ‘General Ojoko’ surrendered their arms and ammunition at Freedom Square on February 5, 2018.

Members of Don Wanny’s group were after the Omuku killings in Rivers state on New Year’s Day, 2018, declared wanted and its leader, John Igwedibe, known Don Wanny, was gunned down in Enugu by a combined team of security agents.

His younger brother was shot dead days later.

It was later found out that the group had bases across the South-south and South-east, including the Imo riverine community which borders Rivers State.

Agamu, who is among the suspected cultists declared wanted by the Rivers State government, surrendered alongside other Don Wani boys who had earlier rejected the government’s amnesty offer.

The “born again” self acclaimed “Generals” confessed to making Awarra Court Area and its environs uninhabitable and their roles in pipe line vandalism.

The militant leaders also confessed to have had close link to the late notorious Militant leader, Don Wanny who was killed in January this year.

They stated the death of Don Wanny prompted their willingness to surrender arms having realized crime does not pay.

Governor Rochas Okorocha commended the repentant youths for surrendering their arms voluntarily saying, they have been granted pardon by the state stressing that, their names will be forwarded to Federal Government for the Presidential Amnesty program.

The Facilitator of the exercise & Deputy Chief of staff Operations to the Governor,Hon Uju Kingsley Chima,Commander of 34 Battalion, Obinze Brig. Gen H. I. Bature, Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Azike, and other Government functionaries were in attendance.

The group submitted explosives, rocket launchers and high calibre rifles, such as AK47, among others.
