‘Oral Sex With More Than 6 Lovers Puts You At Higher Risk Of Throat Cancer’

Must read

WebMD wants you to know about the dirty bacteria and germs that can accumulate when you have oral sex ie when your mouth is put on another person’s genitals or they put their mouths on your.

According to WebMD, 90% of adults between the ages of 25 and 44 have had an oral sex with a lover at some point in their lives.  Also, half of all teens have done the same thing. This is a big shift from the 1970s and before, when this kind of activity was considered to be edgy.

One thing you should know, however, is that oral sex can be linked to throat cancer. American Cancer Society Chief Medical Officer Otis Brawley, MD says that the cancer can be caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).  This infection can be passed to another person through oral contact.

There are other cancers of the oropharynx (the middle of the throat) and tonsils that can be caused by HPV.  They say that HPV is common, but doesn’t always lead to cancer.  Researchers noticed the cancer’s prevalence among patients who didn’t smoke or drink, which led to a further investigation.

A study published in The New England Journal of Medicine in 2007  found that there was a link between the cancer’s prevalence and those who’d had oral interaction with more than six oral sex partners in their lifetimes. Both men and women can get these infections in their throats.

It most likely affects heterosexual men between the ages of 40 and 50.
