Nigerians have leaped on Bola Tinubu on Twitter for making his case worse by parading forged Bishops when he presented on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Kashim Shettima as his presidential running mate on the banner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a Muslim-Muslim takeover bid of Nigeria Christians decry.

One of the scam Bishops, Joseph Odaudu, confirmed that Team Tinubu paid him N40,000 for the hatchet job but it makes him angry because it is a breach of their mutual agreement that he would be paid N100,000.

“They came to meet us at the car park behind Eagle Square and they promised to give me N100,000. They bought food for us and took us to another place where they gave us clothes to dress like Christian leaders and reverend fathers,” Odaudu told The Gazette shortly after the event at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

“But after we finished they only gave me N40,000 and another person said they got only N30,000. I don’t know why they changed our agreement because they said they had N100,000 for us.

“I am a Christian and I am supporting Tinubu but I hate when people lie and fail to deliver on their promises.”

The fake Bishops appeared in cassock at the event to give Christian voters a false impression that Tinubu’s Mujahideen plot with a Northern Muslim means well for Nigeria despite strident running criticism from Christians North and South.

The two largest Christian bodies in the country, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, had asked genuine Christians not to attend the ceremony, to avoid giving a hint of approval.

More troubles in the aviation industry, as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, announced the suspension of Dana Airlines’ Air Transport Licence, ATL, and Air Operator Certificate, AOC, indefinitely, with effect from midnight of Wednesday, 20th July, 2022.

According to the authority, the suspension was made pursuant to Section 35(2), 3(b), and (4) of the Civil Aviation Act, 2006 and Part 1.3.3.3(a)(1) of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs), 2015.

The suspension order, handed down by the Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu, has since been communicated to the management of Dana Airlines.

Nuhu notes that, “The decision is the outcome of a financial and economic health audit carried out on the Airline by the Authority, and the findings of an investigation conducted on the Airline’s flight operations recently, which revealed that Dana Airlines is no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations and to conduct safe flight operations.

“The NCAA acknowledges the negative effect this preemptive decision will have on the Airline’s passengers and the travelling public and seeks their understanding, as the safety of flight operations takes priority over all other considerations.”

It would be recalled that Nigeria’s oldest airline, Aero contractors also suspended its passenger flight operations indefinitely from today.

Vanguard had reported that the company, stated that the suspension of its operations was due to the impact of the challenging operating environment on its daily operations.

In a reaction to the development, Aviation Analyst, Mr. Olumide Ohunayo, stated that, “Aero Contractors is the oldest airline in Nigeria and also the most successful in the non-scheduled operation services before they ventured into schedule operations, and since then they have been struggling to break through the bridges of operations couple the buy over by the Ibru family and then professionalism began to erode the company, coupled with mismanagement.

“The company have maintained a perfect safety record, they went into aircraft and maintenance had a succession in viable maintenance organization, they have a standard and well-equipped training school.

“As a company, they felt like rather than lose it all, they had to suspend a section of the business. It is a perfect decision, they have been with AMCON for sometimes and they are yet to come out of that problem. If they suspend flight operations to concentrate on other aspects of their operations which includes non-schedule operations which are profitable, aircraft maintenance agency and the aircraft training school which is doing well, I must commend them for being bold on this.”

Fake Bishops: ‘Tinubu And APC have shown what they care capable of doing to us’ – CAN Releases Statement [READ]

CAN president, Rev. Samson Ayokunle

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has issued a strong warning to the All Progressives Congress, APC to desist from impersonating christian clerics.

The party was embroiled in controversy after some individuals claiming to be ‘bishops’ attended the official unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the running mate to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the flagbearer of the ruling party.

Tinubu has been facing severe criticisms ever since he chose Shettima, also a muslim, as his running mate. The move has drawn serious criticisms and condemnation from the christian community in the country.

Below is a full statement from CAN

“The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has dissociated itself from the unveiling of the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kashim Shettima, saying those who were presented as church leaders are ‘unknown clerics’.

“We are shocked, disappointed and worried about the desperation of some politicians who once claimed Christians do not matter in governance and politics who went to hire some unknown ‘bishops, pastors and priests’ to impersonate the leadership of CAN in their political meeting.

“This is totally unacceptable, reprehensible, unprecedented and ungodly. If they are saying Christians have no electoral values why impersonating them in their meetings?

“We are throwing their principals and sponsors into the court of conscience. These actions of theirs have shown who they are to the public and what they are capable of doing to us all.

“We are asking political parties not to ignore religious sensibilities and sensibilities of the people especially in today’s Nigeria when Christians are becoming endangered species daily.

“Our quest is within the constitutional requirements and ignoring it is akin to trampling on the Constitution especially the Federal Character Act.”

Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, has said he could not say if those who appeared as clerics at the official presentation of former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as the running mate of the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are truly Catholic priests.

The event which held at the Shehu Yar’adua center in Abuja saw supposed representatives of the Catholic Church.

Critics of Tinubu say the bishops were hired by the former Lagos State governor’s campaign team to give Christian voters a false impression that his decision to pick a fellow Muslim despite strong objections and national security implications was accepted by the Christian community.

“Well, if they are hired, we didn’t see that,” Sule said while speaking in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

“Maybe the same people who are on the streets today too were hired (referring to anti Muslim-Muslim ticket campaigners). You know, it’s the same thing. Can you compare the calibre of people who are on the street to the calibre of people who have just entered that event to be there?”

Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,  on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, claimed that governors elected on the platform of the party wanted Babagana Zulum as the running mate to Bola Tinubu.

Shettima during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, said the governors mounted pressure on Zulum.

Shettima met with President Buhari alongside the Governor of Borno State

Shettima in his statement urged President Buhari to appreciate Zulum for suggesting him for the vice presidential slot of the ruling party.

He also lauded Zulum for ignoring the pressure from his colleagues to bid for the vice presidential ticket.

President Buhari met with Shettima and Zulum shortly after the ruling party official unveiled the former governor of Borno State as the vice presidential candidate.

Recall that Tinubu had earlier announced Shettima as his running mate during a visit to President Buhari in Daura, Kastina State.

The APC presidential candidate announced Shettima as the APC vice presidential candidate despite calls against the Muslim/Muslim ticket of the ruling party.

One of the “Christian clerics” that attended the unveiling of 2023 presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s running mate has spoken out.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in Abuja, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presented Kashim Shettima as its vice presidential candidate.

The 55-year-old former governor of Borno currently represents the State’s central district at the Nigerian Senate.

News of his official announcement was overshadowed by the presence of dozens of ‘clergymen’, most with spurious identities.

Photos and videos show them arriving at the venue (Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre) but they refused to take questions, except a few.

In reaction to their conduct, and attire which portrayed them as Catholics, etc., social media users launched scathing remarks.

Amid the backlash over the controversy, one of attendees, ‘Bishop’ Ugo Ugokwe, posted a response on Facebook last night.

Ugokwe contested for the position of APC Deputy Youth Leader (South East) at the March 26 national convention.

The party member called for Christians-Muslims unity, adding that citizens are free to choose their preferred contestants in 2023.

“I have seen ‘many’ fake news about me and my foundation. It’s okay. Anybody can write what they want to generate traffic.

“I know the guy that I allowed to interview me was out for fake news. He was desperate to see something, to rubbish men of God.

“We are for peace and love not hate. Jesus Christ is love. Christians and Muslims should preach love no matter the challenge in our country Nigeria.

“Just vote your heart in 2023. Don’t hate”, Ugokwe (Amb Ugokwe Prince on Facebook) wrote.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Protest As Tinubu Officially Unveils Shettima As Running Mate

Tinubu unveils his running mate Shettima Kashim

Many Nigerians have continued to express anger over the decision of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to unveil Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 election.

Protesters on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, stormed the APC secretariat in Abuja to register their grievances over the decision of the party to go ahead with a Muslim-Muslim ticket at about the same time the former Borno state governor was being presented to party leaders at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Speaking at the event to defend his choice of Shettima, Tinubu had said the former Borno State governor’s career in politics and beyond shows that he is eminently qualified not only to deliver that all-important electoral victory but also to step into the shoes of the Vice-President.

However, top members of the ruling party, including Governors, aspirants, and delegates of South East extraction, were conspicuously missing at the event.

The protesters under the aegis of APC Hausa-Fulani Youth Forum, who were at the party’s secretariat, stated that the protest would continue until the ruling party leadership to the right thing.

In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and made available to journalists, Abdullahi Mohammadu called on the party to replace Shettima immediately.

The petition read in part, ‘’As concerned stakeholders of the APC and those who constitute the voting strength of our party, we find it worrisome that such a decision could be taken without recourse to its implication on the electoral chances of the party and the attendant uproar such a decision could bring about in the country. Picking another Muslim from the north-eastern part of the country as  running mate is politically and morally indefensible.’’

Speaking on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU, said the APC has already lost 2.2 million votes.

Luka Binniyat, a spokesman for SOKAPU, said the 2023 presidential contest would be between the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party, Peter Obi.

The National President of the Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Bitrus Pogu, said the decision to go with a Muslim-Muslim ticket would not guarantee the APC victory.

He urged the APC presidential candidate to wait and see the results of the 2023 elections.

‘Fake Bishops’ At APC’s Unveiling Of VP Candidate Is Frightening – Ohanaeze

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has reacted to the appearance of certain “Bishops” during the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Daily Post had reported that Shettima was unveiled as Bola Tinubu’s running mate in Abuja on Wednesday, during which some persons said to be Bishops were spotted.

The controversial presence of the said Bishops came at a time Tinubu’s choice of Shettima, a fellow Muslim, was attracting concerns.

However, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as well as the Catholic Church have since described the Bishops as fake.

Reacting to the development, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, and the National Secretary, Comrade Obinna Achionye said it was frightening and shocking that certain persons could go that far in the name of politics.

The OYC said they were awed by “the level of desperation being displayed by the APC presidential campaign group”, stressing that “every well meaning Nigerian should also be concerned because such persons do not mean well for the country.”

They added that “if the Tinubu campaign team could go as far as hiring people from the streets and giving them bishopric attires just to claim acceptance by the Christian community, then anything else is possible.

“Frankly, we are troubled by that show of shame; we are worried over that level of desperation and it is a warning sign, a wake up call to all Nigerians.

“To worsen the matter, the hirelings were seen sharing money openly at a popular hotel in Abuja just a few minutes after the event.

“How can we explain the fact that the same Tinubu who could not find a competent Christian as his running mate, was able to find hordes of street urchins who paraded themselves as Bishops? So, after all, Christians are now important to the Tinubu campaign. This is hypocrisy to the highest level and we urge Nigerians to be watchful.”

The Ohanaeze youths concluded that no level of gimmick would change the fact that Tinubu decided to toy with the unity and collective good of all segments of the country.
