The first big-screen adaptation was loved by fans worldwide, while the second was panned by critics.

But despite Sex And The City 2’s poor reception, Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed she hasn’t ruled out reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw for a third movie in the franchise.

However, the 48-year-old actress added in the interview with InStyle magazine that the follow-up film would have to happen soon – before she’s too old to break out the Manolo Blahniks again.

She said: ‘A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever.’

Sarah Jessica added that she didn’t want the sequel to be left so long that she and her castmates would be left wearing ‘muumuus’ – a type of shapeless dress which hangs loosely from the shouldersinstead of the eye-catching fashions their characters are famous for.

The star’s comments come after her co-star Kristin Davis – who plays prim and proper Charlotte in the TV series and spin-off films – admitted in December they were in ‘discussion’ about potentially making a third movie.

She said: ‘I don’t think a third film is a pipe dream, there is discussion. People talk about it amongst the people who are the players, but I don’t know if it will come together. It would be very exciting if it did.’

However, Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda, has been less enthusiastic about the possibility of getting back together with the old gang, which also includes Kim Cattrall as man-obsessed Samantha, ten years after the HBO show ended.

Quizzed about a third film, Cynthia previously replied: ‘I think it’s fine to let it go.’

And Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell previously revealed she thinks Sarah Jessica is too old to reprise her role as Carrie once again.

Losing weight and maintaining your body requires a lifetime commitment. Dieting, on the other hand, requires you to follow a regimented programme until you get to a certain weight. When you reach that desired number, it isn’t unusual to go back to your old habits. Here’s a 10-step guide that’ll help you maintain that newly acquired svelte body for a lifetime.

1. Personalise your diet
Do not follow the latest ‘size zero’ diet that your favourite star is following. Nutritionists say a diet works best when they are customised. It must depend on your body constituency, basal metabolic rate and lifestyle.

2. Ditch the scale
Your weight depends on your water intake, bone density and muscle mass. Although you may look slimmer, the weighing scale may show a number higher than what you anticipate. It’s wiser to pay attention to how your clothes are fitting you, or measure the midpoint of your waist, and your bra size and track how the inches have reduced or increased over time.

3. Stay motivated
Losing weight increases your self-confidence and makes you feel better about yourself. It’s easy to stay motivated while your pants are feeling loose. But what happens when the weight hits a plateau? By focusing on how your health is improving you stay committed to healthier habits. Don’t be shy about giving yourself regular pep talks. Occasionally, write ‘I am entitled to better health’ on sticky notes and paste them on your desk.

4. Form a support group
Losing weight is a lonely journey. It is your battle and you’re fighting your own eating habits. A good idea is to get a support group. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your family doctor, nutritionist, gym buddies, mentors, friends, and family to egg you on, especially if you eat for emotional reasons.

5. Smarten up the kitchen
If you open the fridge and can’t find healthy options, you’re more likely to call for a pizza or grab a box of cookies. Always stack it with healthy staples like vegetables, pre-measured chicken breasts, beans, olive oil, eggs, fresh herbs, and some quick-boil whole grains. Arrange shelves so you can see what you have and what’s running low.

6. Pre-plan meals
Eating out can be quite challenging when you’re trying to lose weight. You tend to make habitual choices without considering calories or added sugar and salt. So, the next time you are making a plan to eat out, go online to view the menu and decide what you want, instead of making your folks wait on your order, endlessly.

7. Snack smart
A well-timed snack that is a combination of carbs and proteins keeps your blood sugar steady and can prevent you from binging when you sit down for your next meal. If you’re hungry but not ready for a full meal, consider an apple and a handful of nuts, two khakras with boiled sprouts, or a multi-grain toast with a small glass of milk, or a hard-boiled egg.

8. Don’t deprive yourself
The more you deprive yourself of a food item, the more you’ll crave it. So don’t completely strike off pizza and chocolate cake from the menu, but eat it less frequently and in smaller portions. By that way, you’ll avoid gorging on them once you’re through with the diet programme.

9. Manage your metabolism
If you’re still not losing weight, despite all your best efforts, your metabolism may be the culprit. If you’re having trouble losing weight, your doctor can rule out or confirm a thyroid imbalance or hormonal fluctuations and prescribe appropriate medication. He can establish health measures like blood pressure, cholesterol, fasting blood sugar, waist measurement and pulse. If he rules out serious health problems associated with excess weight, you might be more motivated to commit to regular exercise and a healthier diet.

10. Keep healthy foods handy
There’s nothing worse than getting stuck at a fast-food joint from hell when you’re very hungry. Avoid that fate by keeping non-perishable foods like nuts, dried or dehydrated fruit, a packet of peanuts, a fruit or a small box of carrots handy. Be sure to carry a water bottle so you don’t confuse thirst with hunger.

Crude Oil Niger Delta

Hundreds of half-nude women in Peremabiri community in Bayelsa State, Niger Delta, yesterday, staged a protest against non-implementation of an existing agreement by Shell.

The women disrupted movement of workers into the oil platforms and boat houses operated by Shell in the area, alleging non-implementation of the memorandum of understanding Shell entered into with the community.

The protesting women tied red cloth to block the entrance to the oil platform located within the community.

They further alleged that Shell had failed to redeem the two-year-old promise to replace a faulty community generator, renovate existing community school and provide potable water for its host community.

Some of the women carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Shell: Give us Light”, “Implement MoU or go”, “We need water, Light, School for our children” among others.

The protesters claimed that the oil firm had adopted delay tactics to avoid providing the amenities which they said were time-bound.

Reacting to the development, the spokesman for Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Precious Okolobo, urged the aggrieved women to adopt the spelt-out channel of addressing their grievances.

“The SPDC has continued to work with the Peremabiri community on the implementation of the MoU in their area. The MoU model has provision for addressing grievances.”

On the broken down generator at Peremabiri, Okolobo said SPDC procured a new set that is being transported to the area for installation and commissioning.

He said the set was twice the capacity of the bad one, and would be commissioned as soon as possible.

“The Bayelsa State Government and MoU Cluster Development Board are aware of the situation and are engaging the Community Development Committee,” Okolobo said.

Nigeria is one of the world’s major oil producers, but the oil- producing Niger Delta region remains one of the country’s poorest and least developed regions.

Make this year count by sticking to your 2014 resolutions and don’t make this another year of wasted forgotten promises and goals. Resolutions are the perfect kick start to our year, helping us to make positive changes and differences to our lives. Whether you choose to quit smoking (whoop whoop) or shed a few extra pounds, trying to change old habits and start news ones requires bravery and determination. If you want to succeed you need to take your resolutions seriously and get a game plan – after all «failing to prepare is preparing to fail». So follow my 7 ways to stick to your 2014 resolutions, and achieve the possible (yes – i do mean possible not impossible!)

I think sometimes people fall short on their resolutions by making them too difficult and detailed. Make sure you pick just one goal that is clear and has a set time frame. When you think about your resolution, will you be able to look back and clearly answer yes or no to whether you have achieved your goal? For example if you want to get fit, don’t make your resolution to exercise every day as you are likely to fall off the wagon at some point – pick a specific target such as completing a ten kilometre run. Keeping things simple is a sure-fire way to help you stick to your 2014 resolutions.

Get out your pens and paint and have a Crafternoon! Write your goal out on a big piece of card and decorate it accordingly and then place it on your bedroom wall. Every day you will wake up and see your visual reminder and start the day positively with your resolution in mind. You may find it helpful to have a calendar so that you can mark off every day that passes in which you are one step closer to your goal – particularly helpful with exercise goals.

Make sure that you tell friends, family and work colleagues about your new aspirations. This is a vital step to achieving your goal, as simply by saying it out loud reinforces your determination to succeed and dramatically boost your chances of making it a reality. Don’t be afraid to tell people about your goals. Achieving resolutions isn’t easy and you will need the support of others. For example, If you tell everyone that you have quit smoking, friends will be watching over you when your willpower runs low and they could be the deciding factor keeping you on track.

Chasing your dreams isn’t always easy – so when you’re running low on motivation, find inspiration in the words and images of others. The gift of the Internet gives us quick and easy access to thousands of quotes to provide sustenance for the soul. Find a quote that has meaning for you and then surround yourself with the words. Print it off and stick it on the fridge, have it as a screensaver on your phone, or if you are trying to save money, write the words on a sticky label on your credit card. Make sure that when you are feeling low, you will see the words that give you strength and inspiration to carry on.

If you are going to spend money – why not invest in yourself. You don’t need to spend a lot but treat yourself to something that will give you pleasure and help you maintain your resolution. If you are hoping to get fit perhaps treat yourself to a new sports bra and running trainers, or if you resolution is to work harder at your career you might want to purchase some new office clothes that make you feel good when you reach work. You will feel so much satisfaction when you get to use your new items when working towards your resolution.

A vision board is another arts activity – it involves scouring the Internet, magazines and images you have home to make a picture board of how you see yourself i.e. the new you. It is a collection of things that you love and are important to you. On my vision board I have a picture of a scuba diver as I love to dive, there is a picture of my family (very important) and there is a picture of money – as in 2014 I want to be rid of all my financial woes. This activity will help you see what’s truly important to you, so you can identify who you want to be. Remember to include an image related to your resolution, as it should be at the heart of your vision.

On your marks, get set, GO! Procrastination is a huge factor in people not achieving their goals. No matter how big the mountain you need to climb, just remember to take on step at a time, starting today. Make every single day count. If your resolution is to have a pension or savings account why not start by setting aside just 1 dollar every day into a piggy bank. It won’t seem a lot at first, but over time you will soon see the money build up.

I hope you have found these tips to help you stick to your 2014 resolutions useful. Achieving your New Year’s Resolutions or for that matter any life goal usually requires hard work and perseverance – so be strong, you will make it. Overcoming our challenges can bring so much joy to our lives, so remember every time you want to give up just visualize how good you will feel if you manage to succeed with your dreams… just hold on one more day. What are your 2014 Resolutions to stick to?

The police in Lagos State, yesterday, said they have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Ikechukwu Friday, who allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl for money ritual.

*Ikechukwu Friday, the suspect

*Ikechukwu Friday, the suspect

The suspect, who is currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, was paraded before newsmen.

According to him, a pastor he asked for money instructed him to kill a young girl and obtain her faeces.

He said the pastor promised him N100,000 if he was able to accomplish the task.

According to him, “I attend a popular church around Ketu Street, Aguda but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke so I approached the pastor for money but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl.

“He said when strangulating the girl, she would pass out faeces. The pastor said I should obtain the faeces and bring it to him. He said if I could do this, he would give me N100,000.

“So, on December 30, 2013, I approached a young girl, Bose Ogoja. Her mother sells food in Badagry and I usually patronise them, so she trusted me. I told the girl that I wanted to show her something and that she should follow me. So I took her to an abandoned NITEL building and locked the door.

“I pressed her neck tightly and she passed out faeces. I was, however, not able to get the faeces because I was caught before I could escape.”

The suspect, an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra State, pleaded for mercy, adding that this was his first crime.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the boy was arrested by neighbours in the area and handed over to the Badagry Police Division.

Braide said the pastor, who allegedly gave the boy the instruction, had been arrested and was already cooperating with the police.

While displaying the gruesome picture of the slain girl, Braide said: “He was arrested in an uncompleted building. The security guard manning the building told the police that he saw the boy entering the building with the girl.

“He said a few minutes later, he heard the girl screaming and later saw the boy leaving. The security guard raised the alarm and the neighbours were alerted and they arrested the boy.”

On entering the building, the discovered that the girl was dead.

“The picture of the girl’s corpse shows that the girl was naked and defecated on the floor.”

Justice Abiodun Akinyemi of the state High Court sitting in Abeokuta on Tuesday sentenced one Seyi Oyeneye, a vigilante group member and David Oyedele a landlord  to die by hanging for killing Semiu Babatunde.

Semiu, who was said to be a herbalist, was killed by Oyeneye and Oyedele in January 9, 2006 on the street of Olorombo Village, Abeokuta, while going to collect money from a debtor in company of his younger brother who luckily escaped the deadly attack with injuries.

Akinyemi held that the prosecution counsel had proved the charge of conspiracy to commit murder and murder against the accused persons – Seyi Oyeneye and David Oyedele, beyond reasonable doubt and ordered that the two be hanged until they had their last breath of life.

The accused had mistaken the deceased for a criminal and had raised an alarm, shouting “thief, thief” which attracted the Olorombo villagers and leading to subsequent mob – like attack on him.

It was learnt that by the time Semiu’s younger brother returned to the scene of assault in company of their father, Pa Nofiu Babatunde, about 45 minutes later on that fateful day, he had passed out following severe beating and torture by his assailants.

The prosecution state counsel, Mrs Oludayo Osunfisan, from the Department Public Prosecution (DPP), called five witnesses who gave evidences in respect of the matter, including a senior Police officer that testified he “saw the deceased lying in a pool of his own blood tied with a rope and motionless at the scene of crime.”

According to the DPP counsel, the Police testified further that “the deceased, Semiu Babatunde died outside the Federal Medical Centre, Idi – Aba, Abeokuta before they could take him into the hospital.”

Reacting shortly after the judgment, the accused’s counsel, Bola Odelaye, said case may be appealed if the accused families desire it.

A New Mexico mixed martial arts fighter can say he’s 4-0 at home after pummeling four intruders who broke into his mobile home. Police said that one of the attackers was killed and another was hospitalized.

One of the thugs threatened 27-year-old Joseph Torrez in a phone call before showing up with his cronies at Torrez’s home on New Years Day in Las Cruces. The home invasion was allegedly part of an ongoing feud, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.

“I’ll kill you and your family … I’ll go to your house,” suspect Leonard Calvillo reportedly said.

The alleged assailants — Sal Garces, 25, his brother Raymond, 19, Nathan Avalos, 20 and Calvillo, 22 — forced their way into the mobile home at about 2 a.m. Torrez’s fiancee, son and another woman were also inside at the time.

The older Garces was stabbed to death in the ensuing melee, and Avalos sustained “severe” facial injuries, according to the New York Daily News. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Torrez reportedly scared the other two men into fleeing, but they were arrested a short time later on conspiracy and property damage charges. All four of the men are reportedly gang members, some of them with drug histories.

Torrez could face charges in the death of Sal Garces, though his lawyer maintains that “he was fighting for his life.”

KFOX-TV reports that Torrez has already moved to a new home.

The 155-pound lightweight has a record of one win and five losses in MMA bouts, the Daily News reports.

AP UPDATE: Torrez’ attorney, C.J. McElhinney, says his client is no longer cooperating with authorities.

McElhinney said Monday that Joseph Torrez is at “beginning of a very long fight” and he fears the 27-year-old still may face charges even though he was protecting his family.

According to, Torrez is a lightweight fighter with a 1-5 professional record.
