Troops deployed from 82 Division of the Nigerian Army on Operation Python Dance on Saturday, September 23, 2017 carried out a raid on a house in Abia State belonging to a suspected drug baron, Maxi Ota Benjamin.
In collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, a statement signed by Sagir Musa, deputy director, Public Relations of the Nigerian Army, 82 Division disclosed.
According to the statement, Mr. Benjamin, who is now at large, resides in Amirima Compound, Achara Ihechiowa Community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.
“During the raid, four suspected accomplices to the wanted drug baron were apprehended from the compound,” Colonel Musa wrote in the e-mailed statement to The Trent.
According to the Nigerian Army, items recovered during the operation included one short single barrel gun, one long single barrel gun, one automatic pump action rifle, one locally made double barrel pistol, one binocular and two mobile phones of Intel and Kismo brands. Others were some substances suspected to be Indian hemp, which the spokesman said had been handed over to the NDLEA along with the suspects.
In another development, the provision of free medical services to the people of Nnarambia community, Ahiara Mbaise in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State was successfully conducted on Saturday by the Army.
In his remarks at the event, His Royal Highness Eze Dr. Pious Onyekwen Nfunala of Ihiara Nnarambia community, thanked the Army for keeping the nation one indivisible entity and for extending the frèe medical services and supplies to his people.
