A Texas restaurant employee was suspended after he wrote “Black Girls” on a receipt this weekend in an effort he said was to remember the names of the patrons he was serving.

According to KPRC-TV, Barnard Bradfield, 19, who works at the Bubba’s Bar and Grill in Houston, received a two-week suspension over his actions.

However, the 19-year-old said he intended no harm.

“I was trying to remember the ladies’ names but it wasn’t right, of course. I just was trying to remember their names so I didn’t give them a wrong order or anything,” Bradfield told KPRC.

The manager told the local news outlet that the two women who received the receipt appeared OK with the way the restaurant handled their complaint.

“They didn’t make it a big deal. They were upset about it but they felt it wasn’t personal, that we weren’t trying to be racist,” the manager said.

However, after someone posted the receipt online, the restaurant became subject to social media uproar, KPRC reported.

“This is why I will no longer go to any place on Washington Ave!!! This not the only place out there that does this,” one individual reportedly wrote.

“Are they putting different ingredients in our (black girls) food or what?!!!” another echoed.

Nevertheless, Bradfield is expected to return to work after his suspension.
