The Nigerian press has joined the fight against Boko Haram while on official duty in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup.

The Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram has killed thousands in Nigeria since it’s inception in 2009. The sect recently killed many football faithfuls in a suicide bombing while watching a World Cup match in Yobe.

They were spotted wearing t-shirts with the inscription: “The World Unites Against Boko Haram.” Same was seen on a banner spotted in the crown during the 1-0 triumph of the Super Eagles against Bosnia on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

“We felt it was important to wear these t-shirts,” Steven Alabi Akimjidi, a Nigerian journalist told AFP.

“We would feel comfortable wearing these back home, but not in the region where Boko Haram operate,” he added.
