Son Kills Father During Fight In Enugu

A man identified as Anselem Ugwuoke reportedly killed his 60-year-old father, Paulinus Ugwuoke, during a heated argument over the weekend in Imilike-Agu in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The suspect had allegedly engaged the father in the company of his friends in a hot exchange of words over a yet-to-be established issue.

He reportedly hit his father with a heavy object which made him unconscious and later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.

This came as no fewer than four person, including a bus driver, a passenger and two children were confirmed dead while scores also sustained varying degrees of injuries in a head-on collision involving two commuter buses which took place on Christmas Day at about 3pm along Enugu-Onitsha expressway by Water Works, Umumba, Ezeagu, Enugu State.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed both incidents.

He called on the general public to report to the police if they see any of the suspects who ran away after the dastardly act.

He said: “Manhunt for the fleeing suspects have been intensified Just as the suspect’s elder brother, Sunday Ugwuoke, expressed grief and surprise over the death of their father occasioned by the younger brother.”
