#SoundOff: Buhari, Boko Haram And History

Must read

by Ikechukwu Obi

Speaking as a guest on a Hausa program on Kaduna-based Liberty Radio in June,2013, Gen. Buhari, discussing the rise of Boko Haram said: “The appropriate thing to do, according to the law, was for the police to carry out investigations and charge him (Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf) to court for prosecution, but they killed him, his in-law was killed, they went and demolished their houses.

“Because of that, his supporters resorted to what they are doing today.”That was when he made his (in)famous statement that the military action against Boko Haram is anti-North.

Fast-forward to today…
The Army under the same Buhari’s watch has done much the same thing to the Shiites! And you just wonder, why are we like this? Why do we say one thing today and ‘change’ our principles tomorrow?

And why don’t we learn for crying out loud?! I think we have a serious moral and historical deficit in leadership. Sad!
