#SoundOff: Vital Questions Buhari And Buratai Must Answer

Must read

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]et us ask President Muhammadu Buhari and chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai some pertinent questions.

Since they say Colonel Sambo Dasuki did nothing but “share money to Buhari and others”, please can someone tell me: How did Buhari and Buratai get the weapons they used to fight Boko Haram and kill innocent Shi’ite Muslims? This question is important because we know that the National Gazzette says this regime has not bought even a single bullet proof vest since it came into power.

The previous administration of President Goodluck Jonathan facilitated the acquisition of very sophisticated and vital weapons for Nigeria that were once never available in our armoury. By utilising some of these weapons, they were able to recover more than 22 local governments in the North-East that were occupied by Boko Haram terrorists and prevented Shekau from disrupting the 2015 elections as he had threatened.

Peaceful elections were conducted in all 774 local governments of Nigeria and Shekau has never spoken a word to threaten anyone again since then.

Some of the rare acquisitions, include Alpha jets, assorted armoured personnel carriers (APCs), mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles, advanced artillery pieces, assorted arms and ammunition, highly sophisticated surveillance drones, T72 Russian battle tanks, and carried out modifications to F7 supersonic fighter jets.

If you ask me such equipment don’t come cheap and do not forget that all these may have been acquired at more exorbitant cost through third party markets because of the years of frustration by Western powers that refused to sell military grade weapons to Nigeria and even sabotaged their efforts to acquire weapons from other sources.

Even up until this moment, I hear the present regime had found it unnecessary to buy any new weapon from the huge amount of money that Nigeria makes everyday from the sale of our crude oil because of some serious weapons already paid for by the Jonathan’s administration that are yet to be delivered by some unfortunate elements that are still frustrating these efforts.

So my questions are these: Where did President Buhari and General Buratai get all the weapons that they are using to fight Boko Haram and kill innocent Shi’ite Muslims today? In their attempt to rubbish certain individuals they have labelled as threats for political reasons and personal vendettas, why do they want us to believe that the Goodluck Jonathan’s regime did not equip soldiers in battle?

It is unfortunate that some elements hide under the cloak of anonymity in the media to concoct spurious stories and still use the efficacy of the same social media, they plan to padlock to rubbish some of the sacrifices greater men have made for our nation.
