#SoundOff: Why Doesn’t Buhari Call Nigerians Criminals When He Visits Muslim Countries?

Must read

by Osi Peter Asika

On Nigeria’s President, General Muhammadu Buhari’s habit of running Nigerians down abroad by calling them criminals: I have one question and a few observations.

Every time Buhari travels to the West (United States, United Kingdom, Europe) he unleashes an assault on the integrity of Nigerians from the safety of the homelands of those (the West) who gave him credence.

Does he not realise that those colonial days are over and that the Nigerian citizenry he continuously insults and embarrasses are his employers?

His latest outburst in London where he said that “Nigerians have a reputation for being criminals abroad” has sunk even Buhari to an unenviable low. It is nothing short of disgusting that the leader of the most populous black nation on the planet can so derogatorily refer to the people as criminals.

However, I have another question, or two. Do forgive me.

How come Buhari never does this when he goes to any Middle Eastern country?

Is it that the Nigerians who go there are all model citizens?

Many Nigerians have been beheaded in Saudi Arabia for, among other things, drug trafficking. Not only this but many of those so punished committed their offences whilst performing the Muslim religious ceremony, the Hajj.

One would have thought that such a supposedly puritanical person would have spoken out about the desecration of such a core holy responsibility? Or is that his core constituency are not capable of such criminal acts?

Anyway, I suggest, again, that we all seek the real change within ourselves as obviously the one promised is nothing short of a shameless sham.

We shall do this if we… DO THE RIGHT THING!
