After the spies returned from searching the land of Canaan, and the ten spies had given an evil report, the people of Israel begin to weep. The Bible says that they cried all night! And then they protested: they said that God was taking them to die in battle, and then they concluded that it was better to return to Egypt, the land of slavery and bondage.
They had fears of the future; they were afraid of where God was taking them to, so they preferred to go backward.
The problem of the Israelites was that they did not think that God was capable of defeating the inhabitants of the land that He promised them. They must have thought that the land was probably unoccupied, or that the people there were people they could easily defeat with their own strength. Another problem that they had was that they were forgetful. God had performed several miracles in Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and destroyed the army of Egypt: how could they have forgotten all that so soon?
If God is taking you somewhere, you’ve got to trust Him to take care of every problem associated with that place. Don’t let fear hinder you from making progress; don’t let your doubts deprive you of taking bold steps: realize that God knew about the giants in the land, and that He will be with you and surely give you the victory. Never go back to whatever Egypt represents in your life, and don’t remain where you are; keep moving forward.
Prophetic Declaration
I declare today that fear has no power over me; my faith in God is strong and I know that He is able to defeat every giant in my way. I won’t go back to where I am coming from; I divorce my past and embrace my future. Amen.
