Spirit And Life Devotional: Let God Fight For You

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]”Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you.” I Samuel 24:12[/pull_quote_center]

Whenever you try to fight for yourself, God stands aside and does nothing.

People who still pray for their enemies to die are some of the most ignorant people in the world, and it doesn’t matter for how long they’ve been Christians. Let me share a scripture with you: Proverbs 24:17-18 says, “Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.” That let’s you know exactly what God expects of us: He wants to be the One to do judgement, while we love and forgive whoever hurts us.

David could have killed king Saul, but he chose to let God fight for him. Are you planning on how to deal with someone at work, in school or in your neighbourhood? Stop! We’re Christians; we don’t retaliate: when we are slapped on the right cheek, we offer the left, and when someone forcefully takes our shirt we let them take our coat too! It doesn’t make us weak and stupid; we’re simply giving God the permission to fight for us. Vengeance is mine, says the Lord!

Have a blessed week.
