There Should Be No Breach Of Peace – Gov. Ikpeazu Warns APGA | STATEMENT

Must read

Following their serial defeat at the Owerri Appeal Court and at the Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia yesterday and the subsequent defeat today in the petition on the Abia Central Senatorial Seat, members of the All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA) this afternoon resorted to violence by blocking the Umuahia / Ikot Ekpene Expressway in front of their secretariat.

APGA leaders in conjunction with some miscreants resorted to this animal display as a ploy to blackmail the tribunal into perverting the course of justice by giving the impression that there is a total breakdown of law and order as a result of the tribunal rulings.

The party is hereby warned not to take the calm and accommodating disposition of the government for granted as the government will not allow any breach of peace or any attempt to create insecurity in the state as this will be resisted with the full weight of the law.

All citizens should respect the rule of law and respect the judiciary as an impartial arbiter of justice. If APGA members have had a bad case in the tribunal, there is still a window in the appeal court. The right recourse is not to take to the streets or resort to creating mayhem.

Government is hereby warning all APGA members to remain law abiding as all the security agencies have been mobilized to crush any form of breach of peace by any group or persons.

Signed:
Godwin Adindu
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
