Two teenage boys identified as 19-year-old Gideon Harrison and 14-year-old Ifeanyi Ezeorji had been arraigned in Oladunjoye Street, Ikotun Lagos state by police operatives attached to the Ikotun Division for allegedly having sexual intercourse between themselves which is strictly against the law in Nigeria.

A police source disclosed to journalists on Friday, November 8, 2014, that the duo had been taken to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba.

It was learnt that Harrison and Ezeorji had sex with each other through the anus, an act known as sodomy, according to a Punch report.

Ezeorji who resides with his family in on Oladunjoye Street, Ikotun was said to be a Senior Secondary School pupil 1 in Igando High School, Ikotun Road, whereas Harrison was said to be have graduated from secondary school.

It was gathered that the two boys were caught in the act and reported to the police by one Toheeb Adekunle, who stays on Muka Street, Ijegun Road and works inside the Ikotun Motor Park.

Adekunle alleged that the older of the duo, Harrison is a habitual homosexual who had derived pleasure in committing the act with different boys in the area.

Ezeorji’s mother Mrs. Chinyere Ezeorji, faulted the allegations against his son maintaining that his son would ever indulge in such an act.

She said, “My son is just 14 years old. He does not do such things. He is not even mature yet. He takes his bath outside, some times in the presence of his sisters to tell you that he is young. His father had died in September this year, and we have yet to bury him. The family is still grieving him. All I know is that there is no truth in the allegation.

“I don’t know about the other man. I have not even met him. On the day of the alleged incident, my son had strolled to the motor park, and there was a street fight. My son then told me later on that he was simply watching the fight, and he had been arrested by the police.”

Meanwhile, efforts made to reach Adekunle proved abortive as neighbours disclosed that he no longer lived in the area.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the suspects had also been charged to court.

He said, “Yes, they were arrested by the Ikotun Police Division, and they have been charged to court. In law, this offence is called sodomy, and it carries with it about seven to 14 years imprisonment if found guilty, going by an Act of the National Assembly.

“You know, it is even against culture and religion. The Christian, Islamic and even the traditional religions condemn this in its entirety. So, the case has been taken to court.”
