US Pastor Creflo Dollar Gets Internet Backlash For Claiming Jesus Died For Money (VIDEO)

Must read

Pastor Creflo Dollar has been long criticized for being more concerned about making money than he is about saving souls. This week, Dollar caused a social media uproar by seeming to say that Jesus also agrees with his financial philosophy.

On Facebook, Dollar said this: “Jesus bled and died for us so that we can lay claim to the promise of financial prosperity. #ProsperityInChrist #WealthyLiving #AbundantLife”

Shortly after the post was made, it led to a backlash that you would not believe. Many began to attack the pastor for being money hungry and assuming that Jesus was also into money like he seems to be.

The attacks led to Dollar’s team removing the post from Facebook.   But unfortunately, several screenshots had been made already, so much of the damage was done.

This is not the first time that Dollar has been in the middle of financial controversy. Not long ago, he was heavily criticized for asking his congregation to help him purchase a $65 million dollar jet. While Dollar claimed that the jet was to help him further fund his ministry, some feel that it was an unnecessary personal indulgence.

Here’s a quote that gives some idea of Dollar’s approach to preaching the bible.

“The Bible says that wealth is stored up for the righteous (Proverbs 13:22, New American Standard). However, it will remain stored up until you claim it. Therefore, claim it now! You possess the ability to seize and command wealth and riches to come to you (Deuteronomy 8:18). Exercise that power by speaking faith-filled words daily and taking practical steps to eradicate debt. Like God, you can speak spiritual blessings into existence (Romans 4:17). Remember, doubt keeps silent, but faith speaks!”

What do you think? Some believe that it’s OK for pastors to make a good living, especially given that they provide spiritual renewal for so many people. Others, however, feel that pastors should not financially benefit from their work.   Is this fair? Has Dollar gone too far?

Here’s a video of one of Creflo Dollar’s fundraising videos. Watch the video and you be the judge.
