Two elderly women have stripped a 24-year-old thief totally naked and mercilessly flogged with a belt after he was caught by locals nabbing a Toyota car wing mirror.
The alleged criminal who was publicly disgraced was identified as Alexis Rodriguez, who hails from the city of Huancayo in central Peru.
The footage of the act went viral on various social media and has attracted series of reaction from various users.
One user, Hernando Calvo, said, “This is just disgraceful.We live in the 21st century and yet these people behave like they are in the middle ages.”
Another user, Enrique Benel said, “For Christ’s sake, it was a wing mirror. JUST A WING MIRROR!!!’
A police spokesman told reporters, “Officers arrived in time to save the man from further embarrassment and we are investigating.”
Rodriguez was arrested for theft and police are currently investigating his attackers.
