‘Kano People Have Immense Respect For Nyesom Wike’ – Kwankwaso Declares

Must read

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, presidential candidate, on Monday, November 21, 2022, described Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as a member of the Kwankwasiyya Group.

Kwankwaso said Wike was always standing for the truth, and as such, the Rivers governor is a member of Kwankwasiyya.

He spoke at the inauguration of the Mgbutanwo Internal Roads in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

According to Kwankwaso: “Your Excellency, thank you for standing firm, for saying the truth at any given time, not minding what they are thinking.

“Your excellency, without putting on a red cap, you are a member of Kwankwassiya any day, any time. Because in Kwankwansiyya, you don’t have to put on a red cap. Many people in this country have red caps in their hearts, and I believe you are one of us; that is why I believe that those from Kano have a lot of respect for you.”

Kwankwaso Slams APC For Presenting ‘Wrong’ Tinubu To Nigerians

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, said the greatest mistake the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, made was giving its presidential ticket to the “wrong person.”

He stated this at the old Presidential Lodge Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, where he inaugurated his presidential campaign office.

The APC had fielded Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) in 2015 as its presidential candidate. He won and got the party’s ticket for a second term and equally won the 2019 polls. The party has now fielded a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the 2023 poll.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, said the experience the nation had under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, administrations worsened in the last 7-year reign of the APC.

“We were five governors that started APC to produce President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. Unfortunately, when we were angry with PDP, APC became worse. And one big mistake APC made was giving its presidential ticket to the wrong person.

“In the North, we are the party to beat. APC has failed the nation. You may not understand what we are talking about because you have more security and a good economy here than what we see in the North,” he said.

But the APC national publicity secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, neither answered his phone call nor SMS sent to him for comment on the matter.

Peter Obi Campaign DG Says Labour Party In Alliance Talks With Kwankwaso, Others

The director general of the Labour Party, LP, Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Doyin Okupe, says the party is still in talks with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and others with a view to forming an alliance.

Earlier in the year, there were reports that Kwankwaso and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi were in talks for a possible alliance. The move, did not, however, materialise.

But Okupe said despite the inability to earlier form an alliance with Kwankwaso, the Labour Party is still looking to form an alliance with Kwankwaso and other parties for the presidential election.

“As a party, at our own campaign level, we are talking to SDP; we are talking to even Kwankwaso and his team again. We are talking to PRP and ADC,” he said on Channels Television’s Hard Copy, a prerecorded show aired on Friday, November 4, 2022.

“I believe and I trust that God will help us that between now and December, we would bring together that alignment politically in the country and the country would be better for it.”

‘Carrying Everybody Along’

According to him, the move is to ensure that “whoever wins is not just winning on a sole effort; we are winning with the cooperation of many of as many groups as possible”.

He also dismissed criticisms over Obi’s visits to some power brokers in the country, saying it was meant solely for “carrying everybody along” in the scheme of things.

“Somebody won an election in this country, he did not rule. He was loved by Nigerians but some stakeholders stopped that. We have to avoid that by carrying everybody along, “Okupe added.

“Even if they don’t agree with us initially, let them not oppose us;  let them not see us as enemies. We are not enemies of anybody, a group, or any part of the country. We are just a sect of people who mean well for the country…”
