A 30-year-old woman, Dupe Ikharia, whose husband, a police corporal, Lucky Ikharia, allegedly crushed her legs with a bus after a heated argument over N2,000 on Thursday, October 30, 2014 finally gave up the ghost on Friday, November 7 at about 6:30pm in a traditional orthopedic hospital in the Mushin area of Lagos state.
It was reported that after crushing his wife, the irked police officer proceeded to their home and in a brutal attack stabbed and killed their one-year-old son, David with his intestines all ripped out.
Furthermore, it was gathered that Ikharia stabbed himself but survived the attack after which he was arraigned.
According to Punch, the woman’s condition continued to worsen and on Thursday morning, she was said to have fainted.
Sources from the hospital where she received treatment until her death disclosed that her spinal cord and one of the bones around her neck were also affected by the incident, which made the case worse off.
The deceased elder brother, Mr. Segun Akiode, who confirmed her death said, “She has died. She passed on at about 6.30pm. That is where I am now. We went to the CP’s office in the afternoon, and he responded to us very well. He directed us to meet with an officer at the appropriate quarters. Unfortunately, Dupe is dead now, and the whole family is in sorrow.”
He added, “When we went to the SCID on Saturday, they told us that they did not have any suspect by that name. I still do not know the whereabouts of the man. Meanwhile, we have taken Dupe to the morgue in Yaba.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, when asked where Ikharia was promised to get back to the newsmen.
