Boko Haram Kills 8, Blows Up Bridge In Yobe

The dreaded Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram on Monday, July 28, 2014 attacked Katarko village, in the outskirts of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, killing eight persons and blowing up an important bridge.

According to residents, the insurgents invaded the town at about 7:30pm on Monday attacking the military base then proceeding to houses of other residents where they killed eight.

Katarko, which is 22 kilometers south of Damaturu the Yobe state capital, is a community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state, and believed to be one of the strongholds of the sect in the Northeastern state.

The terrorist activities has most recently been on the rise with twin attacks in Kano and neoghbouring Kaduna just within four days
