Woman Charged For Cutting Of Co-Tenant’s Ear With A Razor In Lagos

A woman, Basira Sanusi, on Thursday appeared before an Itire Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly cutting  off a co-tenant’s left ear with razor.

Sanusi, 25, who resides at No. 6, Oloruntomisin St., Mushin, Lagos, is facing a count charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused had on May 20, maliciously cut off the left ear of one Mariam Obideji of the same address.

He said the accused and the complainant got into a heated argument that led to a fight and in the process, Sanusi ran into her room and came back with a razor.

Ezekiel explained that neighbours who were there to separate the duo did not see the accused come out with a razor, until she got close enough and cut off the complainant’s ear.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 171 of the of the Criminal Code, Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Sanusi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs Abegunde Davis, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until June 23 for trial.
