10 Reasons Why Relationships Are Worth The Risk Of Getting Hurt

Must read

When we are young, we soon learn that touching something hot hurts, so we don’t do it again. Then, when we get a bit older, we find that relationships can hurt too, but we still want to go back and do it all over again. It can be difficult entering a new relationship, when you have been hurt before, but there are some very good reasons why we do it and here are ten reasons why relationships are worth the risk of getting hurt.

1. It’s all a part of that rich tapestry we call life

A rich life is one that is filled with amazing memories and experiences, and relationships are just a part of that. When we get hurt in a relationship, the memories can be painful at first, but, eventually, the pain will fade and you will be left with the good memories and that makes it worthwhile in the end.

2. If you don’t take the risk, then you will never know

If you back off from dating someone because you are afraid of getting hurt, then you will never know if that could have been “The relationship”. If you say no to every opportunity you are presented with in life, then you will never experience anything, good or bad.

3. You learn from every relationship

Every time you enter into a relationship, you learn a little bit more about yourself and other people. No relationship is a complete waste of time, because you take away more experience and knowledge from it that might help you with the next relationship.

4. Because you want a relationship

You don’t have to be in a relationship, there’s totally nothing wrong with being single and enjoying it, but for many people, being in a meaningful relationship is an important part of what makes them happy. If it’s what you really want, then it’s worth taking the risk of getting hurt. Why would you deny yourself your happiness, just in the off chance that it may go wrong?

5. Because you are stronger than you think

When your heart is broken it hurts, but that pain does go away. You are strong enough to deal with heartbreak and you will bounce back. You are much stronger than you think and a broken relationship will teach you just how strong you really are.

6. Because nothing good comes with no risk

Absolutely nothing comes without any risk whatsoever, so you might as well give it a go. If you book your dream holiday, the fight might be cancelled or, if you eat a fantastic meal, you could get food poisoning! You can’t go through life being 100% risk averse, or you would never do anything.

7. The potential rewards far outweigh the potential risk

When you weigh up the risks and rewards of a relationship, you will be left with little doubt that it is a risk that is worth taking. After all, we are talking about life long happiness versus a short period of heartbreak. No contest!

8. Because you can’t stop yourself

You can’t stop yourself falling in love, so don’t even try. Most of us need love in our lives and someone to share things with, so don’t try and force you to be otherwise.  It’s just nature doing its thing and who are we to argue with that.

9. Pain is just a part of life

You have to take the good with the bad and that is just a fact of life. If everything was perfect and rosy all the time, then nothing would ever be special to us. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t, and that can be said for every aspect of life, so don’t let your fear of being hurt stop you from having fun.

10. Because it’s worth it

Being in love is the most wonderful feeling in the world and it is worth a little heartbreak, even if you only experience love once in your life. It really is better to have loved and lost, than never to have known real love at all.
