#WorldCup: Colombia Vs Greece Match Preview

Must read

Match: Colombia vs Greece

Date: Saturday 14 June,

TIME: 13:00 Local Time, 17:00 BST,

Location: Estadio Mineirao, Belo Horizonte

BSports reports for the first time since 1998, Colombia is back in the FIFA World Cup. Los Cafeteros (The Coffee Growers) will be looking to eclipse its best World Cup finish in 1990 as they fell to Cameroon after Roger Milla scored a brace in extra time to send them home. This Colombia team is offensively stacked with good defenders. To prove this they received their highest FIFA ranking ever by capturing the number 3 rank back in August 2013. Despite having an offensive oriented team, Colombia will be without star striker Radamel Falcao as he will miss the World Cup.

Colombia’s opponents Greece are in the World Cup for the third time in their history. After getting their first World Cup win against Nigeria back in 2010, Greece brings a very experienced squad with them to Brazil.  Captian Giorgos Karagounis has made 135 appearances for the national side since 1999. He is the only player that is left from Greece’s 2004 Euro run, which saw them lift the trophy in Lisbon against Portugal. 10 years later, Karagounis is 37-years-old and will be participating in his last tournament for Greece.
