21-Year-Old Driver Remanded For Raping 15-Year-Old Girl In Benue

NAN – A 21-year-old driver, Daniel Ushana, was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court in Benue  State for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

The accused, who lives at Yariwata Community in the Guma Local Government area of  Benue confessed to the offence after he was  arrested by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs Theresa Wergba, refused to take the plea of the accused for want of jurisdiction and adjourned the case to Nov. 10 for mention.

The  Prosecutor, Insp. Micheal Orhundu, told the court that the case was reported by one Agundo Tersoo  at Gbajimba Divisional  Police Headquarters on Sept. 29.

The complainant said that the accused person forcefully had sexual intercourse  with his niece.

The prosecutor said that investigation into the matter was ongoing and therefore asked the court for adjournment.

He said the offence contravened Section 284 of the Penal Code.
