LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has spoken publicly for the first time amid growing speculation surrounding his marriage to Hon. Natasha Osawaru Idibia, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a video that surfaced online on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the award-winning singer expressed deep concern over the widespread rumours and warned that the intensity of the misinformation posed a real danger to his wife.
Addressing fans directly, 2Baba said he was worried about the escalating online narratives and the potential consequences.
“I am perfectly fine,” he said.
“But this is putting Natasha at risk, and it is not fair on anybody to do this kind of thing. This is getting out of hand.”
The singer stressed that he did not post anything related to the controversy on social media, distancing himself from any messages that triggered the speculation.
2Baba admitted that, like any family, they also experience private challenges, but emphasised that the public intrusion had gone far beyond what was acceptable.
“People dey get issues for house, no be today. But this is getting out of hand,” he said.
He pleaded with fans, bloggers, and commentators to stop amplifying rumours and creating panic.
“I need everybody to calm down. I need everybody to cease fire. Friends, family, everybody, cease fire.”
The music star firmly denied authoring any online post that may have fuelled the ongoing speculation.
“Please, I am perfectly fine. I didn’t put up that post,” he added, reiterating that the claims circulating online were false.
In the video, 2Baba repeatedly warned that the situation had taken a dangerous turn, saying he knew “what fans can do” and understood how quickly online narratives could spiral into real-world consequences.
“I am perfectly okay… this is putting Natasha at risk. I need everybody to cease fire. We are going to resolve all these issues.”

He appealed for restraint from the public to protect his wife as the couple works to resolve matters privately.
