ABEOKUTA — Four lives were lost and several others critically injured in two separate accidents in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state, according to reports by Vanguard.
The first accident, which occurred on Sunday December 29th 2013, involved members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jammat, who were returning to Abeokuta after their three-day annual congress in Ilaro.
One of the rear tires of the vehicle bursted while the vehicle was on high speed causing the driver to lose control. The bus somersaulted three times, killing the driver on the spot.
The accident occurred shortly after the vehicle left Ibese. The injured passengers were conveyed to the state hospital in Ijaye.
Vanguard observed that the hospital officials hid the identity of the victims from relatives who trooped into the hospital to identify their loved ones.
