50 Suspected Pipeline Vandals Arrested In Lagos

Must read

A total of fifty people have been apprehended by a joint military team of Nigerian Navy and army operatives in Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos state on Saturday, October 4, 2014  for allegedly vandalizing pipelines, according to a report by Vanguard.

About one hundred ferries and canoes used by the vandals in their nefarious activities were also recovered. Also recovered were one thousand jerrycans filled with stolen petroleum products and another two thousand empty ones in the raid which was carried out at about 7:30 pm

Military sources revealed that the operation was carried out while the vandals were in operation following a tip-off.
The sources revealed that the hoodlums attempted to engage the military men in a gun duel, but decided against it and made for the river once they realised that the operatives were from the military.

A resident disclosed that: “The raid even caused a hitch in the flow of traffic as the military men positioned themselves in strategic points around the area. This paid off as some vandals, who managed to escape from the creeks, were arrested while attempting to board motorbikes. We just hope this will continue, so as to bring sanity to this area.”
