6 Lies Movies You’ve Told About The Devil

Must read

America has become a nation which loves the macabre, with movies such as “Annabelle,” about a doll supposedly possessed by an evil spirit, and films about priests performing exorcisms, according to J. Lee Grady, founder of The Mordecai Project.

The former editor of Charisma goes on to say that even Christians have fallen for Hollywood’s depiction of a devil who wears horns and the demons who serve him, because they just don’t read their Bibles.

Here are six myths about Satan, which movies have convinced us are true.

1. God is not the only one who is omnipresent

Although people believe that Satan is everywhere around us, only God can claim this feat, because it tells us in Luke 10:18 that Satan fell from heaven like lightning when he was cast to the earth.

2. Satan is complete with horns

Most people think of Satan as a red-caped individual with horns carrying a pitchfork, but the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan masquerades as an angel of light. This makes sense, because how else would he be able to deceive people by quoting Scripture through his false prophets?

3. You can fight Satan with crosses and holy water

Far from the image of Satan’s workers fleeing from crosses or religious artifacts, the devil is only afraid of those who preach the true gospel of Christ, not those who pretend they do.

4. We can lay the blame for all the evil in the world at the feet of Satan

Although a lot of Christians when they sin claim that they were tempted by the devil, it is usually because of our own lust for that which we should not, according to James 1:14.

5. Satan can do anything

Many mistakenly believe that the powers of Satan have no bounds. However, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross “disarmed the principalities and powers and He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them,” according to Colossians 2:15.

The only way Satan can have power over people today, is if they believe the lies that he or his false preachers spin, instead of Biblical truths.

6. Satan’s domain is a fiery hell in the pits of the earth

The idea of a fiery hell where sinners will suffer for eternity comes from a 14th-century poem by Dante Alighieri called “Divine Comedy.”

The Bible states that Satan is “the prince of the power of the air,” Ephesians 2:2, who can influence people from a remote heavenly location.
