Eze Isaac Ikonne, the traditional ruler of Eziama Aba in Aba North is currently receiving some stick from his fellow Monarchs over his decision to confer the title of Ogbuagu 1 (Killer of Tiger) of Aba Kingdom on the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, when the latter visited the monarch as part of the APC presidential campaign rally in Aba, Abia State.
Pulse NG reports that members of the Abia State Traditional Rulers’ Council have asked Eze Ikonne to step down over the title, warning him to keep off partisan politics.
Eze Eberechi Dick, the Chairman of the council of traditional rulers in Abia State stated that Eze Ikonne does not have sufficient powers to bestow such a title on behalf of the people of Aba as he (Eze Ikonne) is King over Eziama autonomous community, which is just one out of the over 400 autonomous communities that make up Aba.
Eze Dick also said Eze Ikonne needed the consent of other traditional leaders for such a titled to be conferred on anyone, wondering why his Eziama Aba counterpart would act on his own.
