Another National Conference Delegate Dies At 71

A delegate representing elder statesmen in the ongoing National Conference, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Jumare, has passed on at 71.

He died in the early hours of Monday, May 5, 2014 in Abuja, according to a statement issued by James Akpandem, the assistant secretary, media and communications of the conference.

Jumare was buried yesterday according to Islamic rites in his hometown in Zaria, Kaduna. His burial was attended by the Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero and the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.

He was born on August 20, 1943 in Kwarbai, Zaria City.

Jumare was the general manager, Personnel and Administration at Peugeot Automobile Limited, Kaduna from 1993 to 1999, chairman, Kaduna State Water Board from 2003 to 2004 and once served as a National Commissioner in charge of Information and Publicity Committee at the National Electoral Commission.

He also served as chairman of the 15-member National Advisory Committee on Delimitation of Constituencies constituted by INEC from 2008 to 2009.

He was re-appointed Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission in Kaduna State in 2011, a position he held until his demise.

The National Confab was represented at the burial by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Assistant Secretary, Finance and Administration.
