LOS ANGELES, USA — Bad Bunny won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year on Sunday, February 1, 2026, for his latest release, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, becoming the first artist to receive the honour for an entirely Spanish-language album.
The Puerto Rican rapper, who was nominated in several major categories, also became the first Spanish-language performer in the awards ceremony’s 68-year history to be nominated simultaneously for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
His victory marked a significant milestone for Spanish-language music at the Grammy Awards.
In addition to Album of the Year, Bad Bunny received awards for Best Música Urbana Album and Best Global Performance.
While accepting the award for Best Música Urbana Album, he criticised the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, telling the audience, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out.”
He continued, “We’re not savage; we’re not animals; we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
He concluded the speech by saying, “Hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it. With love. Don’t forget that, please. Thank you.”

Emotional Acceptance Speech
Later in the ceremony, when presenter Harry Styles announced his name as the winner of Album of the Year, Bad Bunny remained seated for several moments and appeared emotional before walking to the stage.
He delivered much of his acceptance speech in Spanish. “Puerto Rico, believe me when I say that we are so much bigger than 100 by 35 [miles], and there is nothing that exists that we can’t accomplish,” he said.
He added, “Thank God, thank you to the academy, thank you to all the people who have believed in me throughout my whole career. To all the people who worked on this album. Thank you, Mami, for giving birth to me in Puerto Rico. I love you.”
Switching briefly to English, he said, “I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”
He concluded in Spanish, “For all the people who have lost a loved one and even then have had to continue moving forward and continue with so much strength, this award is for you all.”
Historic Recognition
With the Album of the Year win, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS became the first all-Spanish-language album to receive the top prize. The artist had entered the ceremony as a leading nominee, including in the categories of Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
The recognition placed Bad Bunny among a small group of artists to secure nominations across all three major fields in a single year.
Earlier in the evening, Bad Bunny arrived on the red carpet wearing a custom velvet Schiaparelli haute couture tuxedo featuring crisscross stitching along the back.

His appearance and multiple awards capped a night that highlighted his expanding influence within the global music industry and the growing recognition of Spanish-language music on the Grammy stage.
