BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian Doctors Call Off Strike, Resume Monday

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Sunday, August 24, 2014 called off its over 2-month old industrial action.

Speaking to journalists president of NMA, Kayode Obembe affirmed that the association’s delegates decided to call of the strike in view of the current outbreak of Ebola outbreak in the best interest of public health adding that all doctors are expected to reume at their various duty posts nation-wide on Monday, August 25, 2014.

According to Obembe, the delegates agreed amongst several other resolutions that the federal government lift the suspension meted out to resident doctors without punitive measures.

The federal ministry of health had last week suspended over 16,000 resident doctors following orders from the presidency.
