Burna Boy Says He Could Have Been ‘Oil Thief or Suicide Bomber’ Without Music Career [VIDEO]

Must read

LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigeria’s Grammy award-winning superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has shared a startling revelation about what his life might have looked like if he had not pursued a career in music.

During an interaction with a content creator, Burna Boy was asked what he would have become if he was not a singer.

His response was blunt and unconventional.

“There are many options,” he said.

“I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber, anything including a prostitute.”

The remarks sparked widespread reactions online, with many pointing to the artist’s well-documented struggles before his rise to fame and his long-standing reputation for candid, sometimes controversial statements.

Despite the provocative comment, Burna Boy continues to solidify his place in global music history.

He recently achieved a new milestone, becoming the African artist with the most entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

His latest success came through his collaboration with American rapper Gunna on WGFT, which debuted at number 96 on the chart this week.

The feat brings Burna Boy’s total Billboard Hot 100 entries to seven, making him the first African artist to debut a song on the chart for five consecutive years (2021–2025).
