Church Cancels Man’s Funeral Because He Was Gay (PICTURED)

It’s OK to believe what you read in the bible or to say that you don’t agree with homosexuality.  But when you get to the point that you’re hurting people, someone can easily say that you may have gotten a bit out of line.  This church’s reaction to a mother’s pain is despicable and not the kind of thing that any of us can be proud of.  Isn’t church supposed to be above love?  If so, then why would they do something like this?

The mother of a man who recently passed away says on the day before her son’s funeral was scheduled to be held, she received a call canceling the services.

Julie Atwood says a Tampa funeral home called her while she was standing at her son’s casket, reports WFLA.

“It was devastating,” she told the local affiliate. “I did feel like he was being denied the dignity of death.”

According to Atwood, the minister who was supposed to be performing the service learned of her son’s orientation from the obituary, which listed a surviving “husband.” She says the minister said performing such a service would be “blasphemous.”
