Daily Meditations: What’s In A Name? Plenty!

Must read

Do you know that the angel Gabriel did not tell Mary to name The Messiah Jesus. Christ’s parents, siblings and disciples never called Him Jesus?
The name God gave the Messiah as told by angel Gabriel is Yehoshua or Yeshu’a for short. Yeho Shua is a compound name derived from Yeho (short for Yehovah or Jehovah) and Shua. The literal meaning of the name Yehoshua is Yehovah or Jehovah saves.
The name Jesus comes from the Greek Iesuos which in English is rendered Jesus. It is not a Greek translation of the name Yehoshua. It is just the way the Greeks attempted to spell the name Yeshu’a. The Greek translation of Yehoshua is Theos Soter.
Why am I writing this? Quoting the Aramaic Bible in Plain English, The Messiah said in John 17:3 “But these things are eternal life: ‘They shall know you, for you alone are The God of Truth, and Yeshua The Messiah whom you have sent”.
In Matthew 18:20 He said “where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”. How can we gather in The Messiah’s name without knowing His real name? Pronouncing Yehoshua or Yeshu’a is not so difficult.
According to Philippians 2:10, satan is vulnerable to the name of The Messiah. Knowing that, why has the establishment of Christendom projected the name Jesus over the original name Yehoshua which the angel, His parents and His disciples called Him?
Learn that name today and familiarize yourself with it.
