Davido Paternity Saga: Teen’s Mother Disputes DNA Claims, Pushes for Independent Test

Must read

LAGOS, Nigeria — The mother of a teenage girl who claims she is the daughter of Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has challenged previous claims about DNA testing in the long-running paternity dispute.

She alleged irregularities in earlier processes and said she intends to pursue an independently supervised test.

In a statement posted on her daughter’s Instagram account on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the woman, who identified herself as Ayo Labinjoh, said she was not fighting on behalf of her daughter, but that the teenager was seeking clarity about her identity.

Labinjoh said the renewed public attention surrounding the case had intensified distress for the teenager, Anu Adeleke, who she said had faced years of bullying and emotional difficulties.

She said her daughter had fainted at school on several occasions and had received psychotherapy amid prolonged public scrutiny.

Instagram Post Includes Claimed Private Messages

Labinjoh’s statement was shared as a caption accompanying a screen recording that she said showed a private exchange between her daughter and Davido.

In the messages, the singer denied paternity and maintained that DNA tests had already been conducted.

During the exchange, Anu asked Davido to provide the results of five DNA tests he said had been carried out.

Davido responded that he would publish the results online and in newspapers for public scrutiny, and warned that he would take legal action against the girl’s mother, Labinjoh said.

Labinjoh alleged that the language used by the singer during the exchange was abusive and amounted to bullying, which she said was harmful to her daughter.

Dispute Over Earlier Testing

Labinjoh also alleged that the teenager had been misrepresented in public discussions of the dispute and that earlier DNA processes had been mishandled.

She said a blood sample collected from Anu in 2014 was discarded without being tested, and that the result later presented to them was false.

She also alleged that individuals involved in the process had misrepresented themselves and the outcome.

Labinjoh said she intends to request a new DNA test under independent supervision, suggesting that international authorities could play a role, citing Davido’s American citizenship.

She said the involvement of external bodies would help ensure any future testing is conducted fairly and without interference.

Prior Public Statements

The controversy has continued for years.

In January 2025, Davido’s former lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, publicly addressed the claims.

In an Instagram comment, he said DNA tests had been conducted at two reputable facilities, including one selected by the girl’s family, and that the results showed Davido was not the father.

He described the continued claims as unfair to both the Adeleke family and the child.

Davido reiterated his position on X on Thursday, January 15, 2026, saying that five DNA tests had been conducted at different facilities, all reportedly negative.

As of the time of filing this report, no independent DNA results had been released.
