Governor Makinde Shuffles Oyo Cabinet in Major Portfolio Reassignment

Ibadan, Nigeria — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has implemented a significant reshuffle of his cabinet, redeploying key commissioners in what is seen as a strategic move to enhance administrative efficiency across ministries.

The changes were announced in a letter issued on Monday, May 5, 2025, and signed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.

The reshuffle, effective immediately, affects five ministries, with commissioners directed to assume their new roles without delay.

Key Changes in the Cabinet:

  • Barr. Seun Ashamu, formerly Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, has been reassigned to lead the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

  • Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, who previously held the Environment and Natural Resources portfolio, will now serve as Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

  • Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin, formerly heading Public Works, has been moved to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

  • Prof. Solihu Adelabu, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.

  • Hon. Segun Olayiwola, who oversaw the Establishments and Training ministry, will now take over as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology.

Governor Makinde urged the affected commissioners to bring renewed energy to their new positions and maintain the high standards expected of the administration.

“These deployments are aimed at optimising performance across critical sectors of government,” the statement read.

“All commissioners are expected to continue serving with loyalty, dedication, and the utmost professionalism.”
