Househelp Stabs Boss’ 7-Year-Old Daughter, Commits Suicide

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria — A tragic incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, when a househelp allegedly stabbed her employer’s seven-year-old daughter to death before taking her own life.

The gruesome event unfolded in the Agip Estate area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, though initial reports could not confirm all the details.

However, the police officially confirmed the incident on Thursday, November 27, 2025, calling it a deeply tragic case.

According to the police, the incident was reported by the mother of the victim, Glory Joseph, who contacted authorities after discovering the horrific scene.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, provided details of the incident.

“On 25th November 2025, one Glory Joseph, female, of No. 21 Okabia Street, Agip Estate, Rumueme, reported at the station that her daughter, Alicia Olajumoke, female, aged 7 years, was stabbed to death at about 1400 hours by one Success, female, surname yet to be known,” Iringe-Koko said.

The mother reported that the suspect, identified only as Success, had gone to the victim’s school to pick her up, taking her back to the house where the attack occurred.

According to the police, Success allegedly stabbed the young girl to death before inflicting a fatal stab wound on her own throat.

The police quickly responded to the scene, where they took photographs and documented the crime.

Alicia was rushed to the hospital, but she was confirmed dead on arrival.

The househelp, Success, was also transported to the hospital, but she was confirmed dead from her self-inflicted injuries.

“The scene of the crime was visited, and photographs were taken. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The suspect was also rushed to the same hospital and confirmed dead,” Iringe-Koko added.

The body of the seven-year-old girl has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Iringe-Koko assured the public that preliminary investigations are ongoing and that further developments will be communicated as they unfold.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock, with many expressing disbelief over the senseless loss of a young life.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the deaths of both individuals.
