The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, April 5, 2014 as the date for the conduct of bye-election into the vacant Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Thisday reports.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Mr Akin Orebiyi, made this known saying the date for the bye-election was arrived at during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Civic Centre, Igbokoda.
The seat became vacant following the demise of Hon. Raphael Nomiye, the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, who died on November 23, 2013.
Orebiyi said the commission received an official letter dated February 13, 2014 notifying the commission on the demise of the late lawmaker.
