JD Vance Dismisses Musk’s Impeachment Endorsement, Reaffirms Support for Trump

Must read

WASHINGTON, USA — United States Vice President J.D. Vance has thrown his support behind President Donald Trump, as tensions between the president and billionaire tech magnate Elon Musk continue to escalate in a highly publicised political feud.

“President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him,” Vance wrote in a statement posted to X on Thursday, June 5, 2025, signalling his clear allegiance amid growing speculation about divisions within the Republican leadership.

The fallout between Trump and Musk intensified after Musk publicly denounced Trump’s proposed budget legislation, the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which is currently under Senate consideration.

Musk called the bill a “disgusting abomination” and urged followers to pressure lawmakers to vote against it.

Trump responded during a press briefing, expressing disappointment with Musk, whom he previously considered a close ally and key campaign supporter.

“I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here,” Trump said.

Musk, however, rejected that claim, saying, “False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”

In a post earlier this week, Musk endorsed a comment from political commentator Ian Miles Cheong that suggested Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vance.

Musk’s single-word reply, “Yes,” brought the Vice President directly into the fray.

Vance, who has largely stayed above the fray, responded with a tone of levity, announcing an upcoming podcast appearance by posting: “Slow news day, what are we even going to talk about?”

The remark was widely interpreted as a light-hearted dismissal of Musk’s endorsement of his hypothetical promotion to the presidency.

The dispute has since turned personal. Musk claimed credit for Trump’s political survival, stating, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election.

Such ingratitude.” Trump fired back: “Elon was ‘wearing thin.’ I asked him to leave. I took away his EV Mandate… and he just went CRAZY!”

Musk’s departure from an advisory role in Trump’s administration earlier this year marked the beginning of the growing rift.
