The acting governor of Adamawa state, Umaru Fintiri has clinched the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after winning the primary which will see him become the party’s flagbearer in the Saturday, October 11, 2014 by-election in the state to replace the impeached Murtala Nyako.
According to a report by Thisday newspaper, Fintiri secured 624 votes with his closest rival and former executive secretary of Universal Basic Education (UBEC), Dr. Ahmed Modibbo, scored 197 votes, while former military administrator of Borno and Lagos state, Buba Marwa came a distant third with 54 votes.
The primary which started on Saturday, September 6, 2014 stretched into the early hours of Sunday, September 7, 2014 was said to be free and fair.
The candidate for the All Progressives Congress will emerge on Sunday, September 7, 2014.
