KADUNA, Nigeria – The Kaduna state government has announced significant fee reductions for indigene students in state-owned tertiary institutions.
Governor Uba Sani unveiled this decision during a press briefing on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Discussing the current fee structure in Kaduna’s tertiary institutions, Governor Sani expressed concerns over the deterrent effect of high fees on student enrolment.
“The prevailing fee regime is burdensome, leading to decreased student admissions. It’s saddening to see students either forgoing tertiary education or seeking alternatives due to cost,” Governor Sani stated.
In line with the state’s commitment to ensuring education is accessible and affordable, the governor disclosed a revamped fee structure:
- Kaduna State University: The current fee of N150,000 will see a 30% decrease, settling at N105,000.
- Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic: The fees will be halved from the current N100,000 to a new fee of N50,000.
- College of Education, Gidan Waya: Fees are set to decrease by 50%, moving from N75,000 to N37,500.
- Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences & Technology, Makarfi: For HND courses, the fee will drop from N100,000 to N70,000, a 30% reduction. ND courses, previously at N75,000, will now be N52,000 after a 30% cut.
- Kaduna State College of Nursing: Fees will be reduced by 30%, lowering from N100,000 to N70,000.
Governor Sani emphasized that this fee restructuring mirrors the government’s dedication to providing relief in the face of the escalating cost of living.
He hopes this step will encourage more students to continue their education in the state’s tertiary institutions.

An additional N4 million was discovered in his possession.
Garba stated that the acts committed by the convict were punishable under Section 319 (a) of the Penal Code.
He submitted Julius’ guilty plea and the evidence seized at the time of his arrest to the court, urging that Julius be convicted per his plea and the exhibits presented.
