LAGOS, Nigeria — Moyosore Ogunlewe, Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA), has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a second term following a largely uncontested primary election held on Saturday, May 11, 2025, in Lagos.
The primary, conducted at the APC state secretariat on Acme Road in Ikeja, saw Ogunlewe emerge unopposed after his rivals stepped down from the race, declaring their support for the incumbent.
Usman Hamzat, Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, also emerged victorious in his bid for re-election during the same exercise, which sets the stage for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12 across Lagos State’s 20 LGAs and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The APC primaries produced several returning and new candidates for the local council elections.
Among those who secured the party’s ticket are Olalekan Aroyewu of Igbogbo, Rossini Oluyemisi of Ojokoro, Akindipe Olamilekan of Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Okeowo Oluremi of Ifelodun, Yusuf Sule of Surulere, and Ogidan Azeez of Coker-Aguda.
Others include Tola Oyedele (Agboyi-Ketu), Taoheed Taiwo (Ejigbo), Muibi Alade (Lagos Island-East), Sanusi Ismail (Amuwo-Odofin), Rufai Muibat (Ojo), Taiwo Oyekan (Lagos Island), Wale Ameen (Ikorodu-North), and Samsideen Agunbiade (Eti-Osa East).
Additional winners named in the official party roll are Hunkpe Babatunde (Badagry), Sura Olayemi Animashaun (Epe), Olasoju Adebayo Babatunde (Isolo), Sesan Olowa (Ibeju-Lekki), Anomo Adewale (Ikosi-Ejirin), Ibrahim Rauf (Badagry-West), Ladega Adedayo (Ikorodu), and Rasak Oloyede (Oriade).
The list also includes Abiodun Akinola (Orile-Agege), Ashimi Lateef (Shomolu), Bada Abolanle (Ikosi-Isheri), Oloyede Kehinde (Oshodi-Isolo), Sunday Benson (Imota), Kazeem Sulaimon (Ikorodu-West), Sebanjo Idowu (Apapa), Ajose Peter (Olorunda LCDA), Ismail Monsuru (Eredo), Opeyemi Akindele (Mosan-Okunola), Agbaje Abiodun (Ayobo-Ipaja), and Akinpelu Ibrahim (Alimosho).
Further confirmations from party officials named Jimoh Olawale Saliu (Apapa-Iganmu), Bukola Omofe (Bariga), Aruwe Tubosun (Mushin), Olusegun Odumbaku (Ojodu), Balogun Idris (Egbe-Idimu), Akinsanya (Igando-Ikotun), Hakeem Dauda (Ikeja), Moyo Adebanjo (Onigbongbo), Jakande Lawal (Odi-Olowo), Tunde Azeez (Agege), and Omooba Adeola (Eti-Osa) as winners of the party’s ticket.
