LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Government has sealed DONALD Restaurant, a nightlife venue owned by prominent socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, following violations of environmental laws.
The restaurant, located on Road 14 in Lekki Phase 1, was closed on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after two of its staff members were caught illegally dumping waste along Durosimi-Etti Street, according to the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
Muyiwa Gbadegesin, LAWMA’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, confirmed the enforcement action via his official X account, noting that the operation followed a tip-off from the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA).
“A white Ford van with Abuja registration plates GWA 136E was caught in the act of indiscriminately discharging waste,” Gbadegesin stated.
The vehicle was traced back to DONALD Restaurant.
The two suspects were apprehended at the scene by LERA’s Chief Security Officer and taken to the LERA Secretariat.
Reports indicate they attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000, a gesture that was rejected.
LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team subsequently sealed off the premises for gross violations of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
Gbadegesin noted that the individuals involved will be prosecuted in accordance with the law and warned that the state will not tolerate any disregard for environmental regulations.
“LAWMA remains resolute in its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations across Lagos and urges all residents and businesses to adhere strictly to proper waste management practices,” he said.
“A clean and liveable city is everyone’s responsibility.”
As of press time, neither Cubana Chief Priest nor representatives of DONALD Restaurant had publicly responded to the incident.
