Lagos state governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 suspended the planned reopening of churches and mosques indefinitely.
Sanwo-Olu had earlier announced that worship centres would reopen on June 19 after months of lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
However at a press briefing on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu said the reopening of worship centres has been suspended. He said the decision is based on the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
With 7,319 confirmed cases, Lagos state has remained the epicenter of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
