Police officers in Ndiegoro division in Aba, Abia state have arrested a man who is reportedly the landlord of 2, Ogechi street, off Ohanku road for attacking a couple who were said to be his tenants with a machete,  Vanguard reports.

The landlor, whose name was given as Emmanuel Ndukwe, an indigene of Item in Bende local government was said to have lost his 7-year old daughter to an illness which he attributed to his tenants, Mr. and Mrs. Maduabuchi.

Following accusations and an ensuing friction, Ndukwe was said to have inflicted the machete cuts on the couple before fleeing the house after leaving the couple for dead.

The couple survived and called for help which attracted other neighbors who arrived on the scene to meet them in a pool of their own blood, after which they were rushed to a private hospital where they were reportedly responding to treatment.

The subsequent arrest of Ndukwe was confirmed by a senior police officer, as Crescent Mammah, the Divisional police Officer (DPO) could not be reached for comment.

The officer who preferred not to be named said the suspect would be charged to court pending the conclusion of investigation
